Nip Line

Functional disorders of prostate - a densely innervated and vascularized organ – and urinary tract, are the result of alterations in the nervous, epithelial and fibermuscular tissues, associated predominantly with urologic pathologies, in particular CP/CPPS (Chronic Prostatic / Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome) and BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia).

The immune system is involved in processes of prostatic tissue reactivity dysregulation. In particular, the mast cell which is considered as prostatic immunologic sensor, shows to be sensitive to a wide range of "agonist" stimuli (hormonal, dysmetabolic, traumatic, infectious, etc.) determining physiological alterations in the prostatic tissue, along with neuroinflammation phenomena and related localized oxidative stress.

Because of the close anatomical-functional relationship between urinary bladder and urethra, the diseases affecting prostate gland are frequently associated with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).

Epitech NIP project aims to modulate – through the physiological mechanism ALIA (Autacoid Local Injury Antagonism) - the non-neuronal cells, thus facilitate the recovery of the natural functional and morpho-structural characteristics of the prostatic tissue and urinary tracts, as well as the regular nervous central and peripheral sensitivity.
